What some of the participants had to say…
Andy Parry, Director of Operations for Chicago FC United (IL), following a U16 victory on Friday…
“This year we’re very fortunate. We have probably the most teams we’ve ever had in one year in the National League. For as long as I can remember, we’ve had teams playing in the National League. We were disappointed when it went away for a year, but we’re so glad it’s back. It’s such a great level of competition. The environment that’s out here — when you walk around you can feel it — it’s just different to a regular event that we play in.
Darnell Bernier, coach of U19 Boys Leg-A-Z Caimans (FL), following his team’s win on Saturday…
“Personally, I talked to a college coach after the game, but I also have many texts on my phone from big Division I universities saying they are coming out today, tomorrow or Monday to check us out. That shows a lot of credibility about National League because to continue to attract attention with all of the other academy leagues out there, that tells you a lot.”
Ross Liberati, coach of U19 Radnor SC 03B Premier (PA-E), following his team’s 5-3 win on Monday…
“We have a group of guys who want to challenge themselves. This is the type of environment they want to play in. We have been really happy with the level so far. Every game has been super competitive. The boys are very happy with what they’ve seen so far, and they’re looking forward to going to Phoenix and hopefully seeing the same thing.”
